Everyone wants to go viral, whether it’s for their business, for their gain, or just for fun. Most of the time, it happens by chance (like the feta pasta recipe that blew up around February on TikTok), while other times, strategies are applied for that content to go viral. Going viral by chance is the easiest way to boost your content or engagement if you’re a brand but using strategies depending on the platform is very difficult. 

So here are some tips to get started on making viral content if luck is not on your side. First, your content needs to be captivating and engaging. You need a good hook to be able to grab the attention of your audience. For example, “How to” videos get many views and likes because people are willing to learn something or get a hack to do something they’ve never tried. A lot of skincare companies do videos like “How to get rid of hyperpigmentation,” “How to apply sunscreen,” etc.

Next, make your videos short and precise. No one wants to listen to a video over a minute long, and they may just end up skipping. If it’s a social media platform like Instagram, Facebook, Twitter, you can follow the strategy of keeping it short and precise, but if it’s Youtube, you can go longer. This tip works since we can see how apps used to create videos under a minute are blowing up, for example. Don’t forget to add trending sounds or music because it’ll increase your chances of joining a viral trend. 

It’s also essential to know your audience and engage with them. Creating content for your target audience will definitely boost your views, and also communicating with them in the comment section creates a personal connection between you and your audience. It can be as easy as writing in the caption “How is everyone doing today?” or “Comment your birthday and find your birthday twin.” 

 Sometimes copying what you see everyone doing is also a way to go viral. Many “challenges” are going on right now, especially on TikTok and Instagram, where you act out a trending dance or a simple “get to know me” challenge. These videos can get a lot of views just because you participated in the trend.
