Increased AI Usage, Controversies, and New AI Features

AI technology is rapidly evolving as more and more people begin using it for everyday assistance. Yasmine, Founder and CEO at BlueTickSocial, predicts, “We are going to see more aspects of social media being tested with AI.”

AI has already become embedded in many aspects of technology, including search engines, email, social media apps, and more. AI video editing tools have even been rolled out by CapCut, Instagram’s Edits, and TikTok, so we can only expect more AI features to be tested on social media.

Increased concerns about managing new AI features and developments have also caused many people to call for better ways to identify AI content. “I wouldn't be surprised if someone comes up with a tool for users to know if something was made with AI or not,” Yasmine says.

Color Trend Alert: Butter Yellow

Butter yellow—have you heard of it? The light, warm hue is saturating the stark minimalism of the past decade, offering a soft approach to adding more color to our lives. Kara Hanson, Digital Marketing Specialist at BlueTickSocial, says, “I think brands are really going to lean into the color butter yellow, especially makeup and clothing brands. Butter yellow seems to be the color of the season.”

Butter yellow is a soft, warm color that can lend itself to comfort, nostalgia, and optimism, making it a hue that isn’t just a trend, but an indicator of the general public’s wants and needs. With concerns of an economic recession and hard times, people may seek gentle colors to carry them into the warmer months ahead.

Bright, Bold, and Colorful Content

Minimalism and neutral tones have been the cornerstone of branding for over a decade. However, maximalism and brighter, bolder colors have been trending in the last few years, indicating a market shift toward ‘more is more’ and having fun with color again. While butter yellow is currently in the spotlight, Brianna Hall, Director of Writing at BlueTickSocial, predicts these softer hues will become more vibrant and saturated as the summer months progress.

“The summertime often inspires people to play with more color, but I think that feeling will continue to grow as more people leave their minimalism days behind. Plus, people desire fun, optimism, and a little escapism during hard times, and I think this will trickle into more colorful branding and content overall,” Brianna says.

Maximalism and Messy Aesthetics

Similarly, the anti-minimalism movement will continue as more people opt for maximalist ideals with a curated messy aesthetic. The demand for authentic content has heightened, lending itself to a landscape accepting of less-than-perfect aesthetics. Think photos of messy bathroom sinks and lived-in rooms, slightly undone hair and makeup styles, and realistic-looking photos and videos (even if they’re still curated).

“This trend kind of reflects what we’re already seeing with a shift to more natural aesthetics. As AI continues to saturate industries, making every photo and video ‘look perfect,’ or even a little bit uncanny, some people are going to rebel with obviously humanistic elements,” Brianna says.

Our team looks forward to an exciting summer season, watching new marketing trends develop and shift as the weather warms up. Happy summer!
